the gophers were thought to be a shoe-in for the big dance prior to the season's start. now, locals are comparing them to the worst gopher b-ball team -- a 1932 team; they are calling for monson's head; the gopher women b-ball team are the talk of the town (besides hockey, of course); at our church winter raffle 1st prize was two season tickets to the gopher men's b-ball, 2nd prize was four season tickets.
it hasn't been this low since the dutcher days when the players were raping woman (at least that team won!).
with that said i agree to a certain extent that they cover and/or possibley win today. they have the talent:
humphries -- top 5 hs players, mc donald's all-american, duke recruit (backed out to possibley go straight to the pros), and now, easily one of the best freshman if not one of the best players in the country.
boone -- top 25 hs player, all-american, n carolina recruit (transfered) not lived up to potential, yet, but has the talent.
johnson -- top 100 hs player, northwestern recruit (transfered) very solid guard.
bauer -- top 150 hs player, if returns to his fresh playing will be an all big ten player!
this team is loaded w/ talent! DEFINITELY not an 0-9 big 10 team!!! especially w/ the big ten in a down year! thus, the call for monson's head. today is an excellent opportunity, other than TWO facts bother me:
1. i hate investing on losers. and they guys are flat out finding ways to lose.
2. i wonder about their focus and/or confidence, if you don't believe -- you start to believe that.
i might play the ml SMALL, otherwise i'll wait for them to get their heads on staight.
